Atari may be dropped by the NASDAQ

Fresh NASDAQ warning for Atari:

US Stock Exchange threatens to withdraw publisher from its listings following value drop.

This is just a little too sad. A company that used to be synonymous with video gaming to have fallen so far. I doubt that the company will every close though, the name is just way to valuable.

  1. The Atari that will be delisted is not the Atari of yore. This is but a shell of the former great company of our youth, passed around like a proverbial football (or hot-potato), until the ball drops (or the timer goes off). Atari is just a nameplate now, much like Zenith, RCA, and other companies that still do business, but are nothing more than labels and acquisitions.

But, even though it’s just a nameplate, it still feels like a kick in the teeth. Almost like the kick in the teeth we had when Sega and SNK were bought. I still shake my head when I see SNK/Playmore and Sega/Majesco. Sad times.
