Notable changes:

  • Widescreen video modes are now supported; Stella will simply center the image with surrounding black borders.
  • Many UI-related changes, including resizable ROM launcher and debugger windows, and a new UI palette (the previous ‘classic’ palette is still available). This is still a work in progress.
  • The locations of all major config files (statedir, palette file, cheat file, properties file, etc) are now configurable from the commandline and within the UI.
  • Added more complete cartridge auto-detection for Commavid (CV), 3E, 3F and Activision (FE) formats.
  • Added support for gzipped ROMs.
  • Re-added pause support.
  • Re-added support for Windows 98.

A peek at the Atari Flashback Portable prototype - Joystiq:

Curt Vendel, designer of the all-in-one Atari Flashback — also known as the perfect holiday gift for that difficult person on your list — let the readers of the AtariAge forums in on the design of the upcoming (and no longer rumored) Atari Flashback Portable.

Although I’ve already got a bunch of Atari games in portable form on my GBA, I would still be interested in one of these. I’m curious how games will be loaded onto the machine though.

New Amiga desktops announced

Amiga News:

After months of designs and negotiations Amiga, Inc. and ACK Software Controls, Inc. are pleased to announce that new hardware is on its way for Amiga users.

[...]

Initially, two systems will be produced that address two different market needs. The first is a consumer entry design that will offer a complete product with a target price point of $500.00, while the second will be of a power design that would have a target price point of $ 1,500.00. The PowerPC architecture will continue to be the architecture of choice for these new systems.

Amiga fans rejoice! New hardware to run AmigaOS 4.0 on, although I think the Amiga brand would get further along with a port to the x86 architecture.
