Modern Mechanix scanned and transcribed a Byte article from 1983 about the development of the Apple Lisa.

I love the U.S. Robotics ad on page 7 for a 300/1200 Baud modem with automatic dialing for a low price of $599!

Atari Classics Evolved (PSP) review

Atari Classics Evolved (PSP)

The “Evolved” version of each game is the big selling point of the collection. Each game is given enhanced graphics, giving each a more realistic look, and Warlords and Battlezone support online multiplayer.

Sweet, online multiplayer Warlords. Almost makes me wish I had a PSP… And maybe some friends with a PSP… And probably this game!

Christmas Tree Pac-Man

Check it out, Pac-Man in the form of a Christmas tree! Maybe someone can translate the post? Here’s Google’s translation:

We found a Christmas tree based on the popular Pac-Man, in the business center of Madrid

Thanks to our friend Wilhelm who sent us a photo, we learned that in the area of Azca have a Christmas tree rather curious and geek, it might even make frighten our mismísimas balls… So we went up there to see a tree whose lights imitate the famous Pac-Man videogame, or for children of the age Comecocos with all their coconuts, ghosts and Christmas trees digital (penalty having so little movement). We are still impressed…

Pac-Txt: Pac-Man meets Zork:

You awaken in a large complex, slightly disoriented. Glowing dots hover mouth level near you in every direction. Off in the distance you hear the faint howling of what you can only imagine must be some sort of ghost or several ghosts.

And so starts your online text adventure as Pac-Man.

New version of Stella, the Atari 2600 VCS emulator available

Stella: “A multi-platform Atari 2600 VCS emulator”

Notable changes:

  • Widescreen video modes are now supported; Stella will simply center the image with surrounding black borders.
  • Many UI-related changes, including resizable ROM launcher and debugger windows, and a new UI palette (the previous ‘classic’ palette is still available). This is still a work in progress.
  • The locations of all major config files (statedir, palette file, cheat file, properties file, etc) are now configurable from the commandline and within the UI.
  • Added more complete cartridge auto-detection for Commavid (CV), 3E, 3F and Activision (FE) formats.
  • Added support for gzipped ROMs.
  • Re-added pause support.
  • Re-added support for Windows 98.
